best mMO mouse

Whether you’re into Final Fantasy XIV, World of Warcraft, or any other MMO, you’re going to have a lot of buttons to press. Although saying that, even strategy games require a lot of button inputs.

This is why companies have been looking into developing a MMO mouse that will make life easier for your hardcore and your casual MMO gamers.

I’m a big MMO fan, currently playing both WoW and FFXIV. (Although I admit at the moment I play FFXIV on the PS4 controller).

I’ve always used a standard keyboard and mouse with WoW. Using an MMO mouse however makes it so much easier and more enjoyable.

They’ve been designed to be much more comfortable, ideal since MMO play sessions tend to be much longer.

The biggest benefit of using MMO Mice is the extra buttons. They have a range of side buttons that you’re then able to customise and assign specific abilities, item slots and even your own custom macros.

Taking your MMO gaming to the next level.

In A Hurry? The Best Gaming MMO Mouse list

MMO Mice have become more and more popular and there are now hundreds of different models available.

It’s therefore really important to make sure you get the right one for you and your needs.

I’ve gone through a wide range of them and below you’ll see which I think is the best MMO mouse. You’ll also find a selection of runner ups as well.

7 of The Best MMO Mouses

1. Razer Naga Pro Overall Best MMO Mouse

Overall Best MMO Mouse
Razer Naga Pro

The Razer Naga Pro is not just the best MMO Mouse but i'd say one of the best gaming mice. It offers so much customisation and functionality. It features swappable side plates, which means you can decide how many buttons you want to use. Perfect for gamers that play multiple types of games.

With the swappable plates, you can get up to 12 extra buttons. Helping to take your MMO gaming to the next level. If you're using this mouse for a MMO game you might want to use the 12 button side panel.

Perfect if you're playing a game like WoW or FFXIV that has a wide range of abilities to bind to it.

The Razer Naga is a great mouse even if you need less buttons. The 6 button panel is ideal for games such as Albion Online or even non MMO games such as Fortnite.

So no matter what types of games you play, the Razer Naga is perfect for a real gamer.

One drawback to this mouse is the size of the buttons. If you do have larger thumbs then you might find it harder to use. Although for 99% of people, I don't think this would be a major issue.

The Razer Naga makes the number one spot for the best mmo mouse for its features. Like with any Razer product, it's built to a very high standard.

The sensor is very good and reacts quickly and smoothly. It also has a long battery life of 100-150 hours, depending on how you connect it.

In order to fully use the Razer Naga, you want to take advantage of Synapse. This is the software behind the MMO mouse. It's very easy to use and will allow you to not only change keybinds but also set up different macros.

  • Weight: 117 grams
  • Dimensions: 4.69 x 2.93 x 1.69 inches
  • DPI Range: 100 – 20,000
  • Buttons: Up To 20
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Battery Life: 100-150 hours

2. Corsair SCIMITAR RGB ELITEBest Mid-Range MMO Mouse

Best Mid-Range MMO Mouse
Corsair SCIMITAR RGB ELITE

Lets face it, sometimes you just don't have the money to buy a top of the range MMO mouse. At the same time you don't want a budget mouse that might not last.

The best thing to do is to meet in the middle and get a good quality mid-range MMO mouse.

That is just what the Corsair Scimitar RGB Elite is.

It's amazing how good of a mouse this is for MMO gaming, without you having to pay a premium price.

The mouse itself is built to a very high standard, it feels very comfortable and solid in its design. In terms of comfort, it's got a rest for your little finger. This rest has a gripping material to help you hold the mouse firmly and certainly helps you to feel comfortable using the mouse for hours and hours at a time.

What is interesting is the ability to actually move the 12 button side panel. I know that sounds strange but it slides forward, so you can adjust it fully to fit where your thumb will be. Afterall, our hands are all different sizes.

This makes the MMO mouse very accessible to all kinds of players and again allows you to play those long gaming sessions comfortably.

The sensor is pretty decent and the click latency is low, which is a good thing. Although after having a play around with it, the Razer Naga is better. It would expect it to be as it is more of a premium MMO mouse.

Don't let that put you off, it's certainly the best mmo mouse that uses a wired connection. I do prefer to use a mouse with a wire, you're just secure in the fact that the battery won't die half way through a dungeon or a raid.

There have been some reports that it can drag a little on mousepads and that the middle wheel stops working after a while. In terms of reviews, there are only a couple of these cases and they are fully covered under their warranty. This gives you extra peace of mind.

Overall, it's an amazing MMO Mouse that is not going to break the bank account but give you the gaming experience you’ve been looking for.

  • Weight: 107 grams
  • Dimensions: 6.89 x 4.49 x 3.15 inches
  • DPI Range: 18,000
  • Buttons: 12
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wired

3. Logitech G600 MMO Gaming – Best Budget MMO Mouse

Best Budget MMO Mouse
Logitech G600 MMO Gaming

If you're on a smaller budget, there are still some great options. I would say the Logitech G600 is the best budget MMO gaming mouse. First of all you have three profiles on the mouse's memory, so you can set it up for multiple MMO’s.

The Logitech G600 offers 12-programmable buttons, which are all fairly large. It does however have a third button on the top, under the scroll wheel. This button allows you to create a second programmable layer of commands, so you have even more flexibility with your macros.

Even though it's a budget MMO Mouse, it does have decent low click latency. The sensor was pretty accurate as well. I even tried healing for the first time in WoW and the mouse really helped.

One drawback might be the fact that it is wired, a wireless mouse does offer a bit more give and is a little more flexible. Although I often do prefer wired mice as I don't have to worry about keeping the battery charged.

The Logitech G600 is also a bit bulkier than other MMO Gaming mice. Now I have fairly big hands so it's not so much of a problem. If you do have smaller hands then you might find it a little harder to get to some of the buttons on the side.

Another thing I do like about this mouse is that the software works fine for both Windows and macOS.

If you're looking for the best MMO gaming mouse, whilst on a budget then this is a great option and will make your gaming so much more enjoyable.

  • Weight: 133 grams
  • Dimensions: 118mm x 75mm x 41mm
  • DPI Range: 8,200
  • Buttons: 12
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wired

4. SteelSeries Aerox 9 WirelessBest Lightweight MMO Mouse

Best Lightweight MMO Mouse
SteelSeries Aerox 9 Wireless

One of the reasons why I love the SteelSeries Aerox 9 MMO Mouse is because of its weight. Many MMO gaming Mice are fairly bulky and heavy.  It's not much of a surprise since they have so many buttons.

If you're looking for a lightweight MMO mouse, then this one is perfect. They’ve reduced the plastic used on the body of the mouse by putting a honeycomb pattern. This has helped to make it much lighter when compared with others.

Many gamers prefer a lightweight MMO mouse as you can move it around faster. This is going to make better movements in game and really help you to get those abilities off quicker.

Even though it is lightweight, it is still pretty big. So those gamers with smaller hands might struggle to get to all of the buttons.

Lets face it, a little extra speed can mean the difference between your raid group surviving the raid or failing. (Even more so if your the healer)

Not only is it lightweight, it's also a decent mouse when it comes to its performance. The sensor is accurate and it has a very good click latency.

It is a wireless mouse, so you also have the advantage of not having a wire in the way. If you decide to use the USB receiver then the battery should last up to 80 hours. You can also use it via bluetooth and should last up to 180 hours.

I do like the fact that you can fully customize the RGB color of the mouse. It even has 3 different zones, so you can really make it look unique.

Overall a decent MMO mouse, if you are looking for something that is lightweight.

  • Weight: 82 grams
  • Dimensions: ‎34.5 x 20 x 10 cm
  • DPI Range: 18,000
  • Buttons: 18
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wireless

5. Razer Naga X

The fifth best mmo mouse is another one from Razer. It's the Razer Naga X. This mouse is one of the lightest gaming mice available. Making it very popular among MMO players.

If you play for many hours at a time you're going to want something that is not too heavy. This one only weighs around 85g. It's a little bulky like many of the gaming mice, however it's very comfortable to use.

The Razer Naga comes with 16 buttons on the side. This is less than most of the MMO mice on this list, but it's still more than enough to assign all your abilities and macros. All of the buttons can be fully customized.

It is connected with a wire, so this might not be ideal for everyone. As I mentioned before, I do tend to prefer a wired mouse.

One of the best things about this mouse is the price. It's very low costs for a Razer mouse as you know it's going to be built to last. Perfect for those that are looking for an entry level mmo mouse that has enough side buttons but doesn't cost a fortune.

  • Weight: 85 grams
  • Dimensions: ‎‎‎7.49 x 11.89 x 4.32 cm
  • DPI Range: 18,000
  • Buttons: 16
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wired

6. Redragon M908

The first thing that's appealing about the Redragon M908 is the price. Currently you can get this for under $35, for a MMO mouse that's pretty decent.

It doesn't feel like a premium mouse, but at the same time it is built to a high standard. The mouse itself feels pretty sturdy.

The Redragon M908 has 18 programmable buttons. These can all be programmed through their own software, although I don't think the software is as good as other MMO mice. But it does get the job done!

There is a thumb and pinky rest and overall is pretty comfortable. It's worth noting that it is fairly bulky.

As I’ve mentioned before I do like wired mice, although the wire is pretty rigid. The problem with this is that it doesn't move around as well as I’d like.

The sensor is really good, so you shouldnt experience any delays. Like with most MMO mice you can change the speed and sensitivity, although by default the Redragon M908 is pretty well balanced. You can however adjust it if you want to.

Overall it's a solid MMO mouse, decent feel, nice performance and really good price.

  • Weight: 175 grams
  • Dimensions: ‎‎‎5.12 x 3.94 x 1.57 inches
  • DPI Range: 12,400
  • Buttons: 18
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wired

7. Logitech G502 HERO

MMO Mice will typically have around 16-18 buttons, the Logitech G502 HERO only has 11. So it's aimed more at gamers than MMO gamers, however with 11 buttons it still offers enough to get the majority of MMO abilities programmed to it.

Now I don't just play MMOs, so getting a mouse that can be comfortably used for other types of games is a bonus.

Plus with less buttons, it tends to be a little less bulky.

Like most up to date mice, it has an ergonomic shape which is not only comfortable but designed to make it easy to play with. In fact it's ideal no matter how you grip your mouse.

Even though it's fairly low cost when compared to other best mmo mice in this list, it's very well built. It surprised me how good quality this mouse was for the money.

From the tests I’ve done, speed wise it's decent, it has a low click latency and I was impressed at how accurate the sensor was.

Now the Logitech G502 Hero is a wired mouse, however they do have an upgraded version which is a wireless MMO mouse.

So overall, even though it's not specifically designed as an MMO mouse it certainly does the job. Not only that but since it's versatile and allows you to use it for other genres of games, that's another plus for me.

  • Weight: 122 grams
  • Dimensions: ‎‎‎1.57 x 2.95 x 5.2 inches
  • DPI Range: 25,600
  • Buttons: 11
  • Shape: Ergonomic
  • Lighting: RGB
  • Connection: Wired

What To Look For In A MMO Mouse?

There are many things to consider when looking for a good MMO Mouse, but what makes it the best for you and your needs?

Below, I’ll go through a number of things that you should think about and consider.

Button Layout

The first thing I look for is the location of the buttons. When it comes to using a MMO mouse, the whole point is to have access to more buttons.

If these are in an awkward position, it makes it pretty pointless.

The buttons should be in a position that feels natural and easy to access.

This is true for most games but since in MMO’s you tend to go through a lot of buttons in your rotation. It makes it even more important.

Number of Buttons

MMORPG Mouse

Is more buttons better? This to be honest is all going to depend on the game you play and your play style.

In most cases, when using an MMO mouse you want to have as many buttons as possible. This is simply because of the amount of buttons you tend to have to press when fighting.

Although saying that you can almost bind anything to a mouse button.

Personally, having my character mount up at a quick click of the button on the mouse is amazing…

If playing a MMORPG like WoW or FFXIV then I’d go for the 12 button combination. This will give you plenty of options when it comes to binding specific abilities or macros.

Although if you play something like Fortnite, 12 buttons would be too excessive. For this you could get yourself a 6 button MMO Mouse.

You can get some mice such as the Razer Naga Pro which allows you to have different amounts of buttons on the mouse. Perfect for when you play multiple MMO style games.

Scroll Wheel

It’s surprising how much I use my scroll wheel, even though you wouldn’t think it’s that important.

The amount of times I zoom in and out when playing WoW or FFXIV.

Not just that but sometimes just scrolling through windows or text, it just makes it so much easier. So id always recommend when looking for a MMO mouse, id get one with a scroll wheel.

Sensor

Many people believe that the most important part of the mouse is the sensor. Although with an MMO game, it’s not as important. Simply because you’re not using the mouse as much as other game types.

Having said that, when in the middle of a raid boss you want to make sure that your mouse sensor is keeping up with your movements.

I’d recommend going for an optical sensor, as these are a lot more responsive and give you more accuracy. Although you can get some decent laser sensors.

Grip

If you’re playing MMO games then you’re going to be using your mouse for hours at a time. It’s therefore really important that any MMO Mice you look at, has a grip that you find comfortable.

Your play style will ultimately be important the type of grip you go for, whether it’s a finger grip, palm grip or a claw grip.

Many of the best MMO Mice will have been designed to support all 3 types of grips. It’s just worth checking them first to make sure it’s a style that you’ll find comfortable.

Mouse Software

When I first started looking at using an MMO Mouse, the software that comes with it was the last thing I thought about.

However, making sure the mouse has a decent interface is very important. You’re going to want it to have good software, as it’s this that you’ll usually use to set the mouse up and map your buttons.

This is something that’s even more important if you’re an MMO player.

Connectivity

When it comes to connectivity, you can go for both wired or wireless MMO Mice. 99.9% of people will not notice a difference between wired or wireless, when it comes to latency. Unless you were to get a much cheaper one.

The ones recommended in this list of the best MMO Mouse, will have excellent latency whether its a wired or wireless mouse.

Price

Finally the last thing I tend to look at is the price. It is possible to get low priced MMO Mice, however they don’t tend to have the same build quality or features.

I would recommend looking at your budget and seeing what you can afford. Generally you’re going to get more durability and life from a more expensive mouse.

At the same time, you can get some excellent MMO Mouse that will not break the bank account.

FAQ

Is it worth getting a MMO Mouse?

Yes, it’s worth getting a MMO mouse. By binding your abilities onto your mouse with the extra buttons, you can really speed up your gameplay. Imagine being able to mount up in WoW just by pressing a button with your thumb. Or selecting a mob with your mouse and then pressing a button on your mouse to charge at them or cast a certain ability.

What DPI do pro gamers play at?

Typically most pro gamers play at a DPI of 400-600.

What size mouse is best for gaming?

It’s going to very much depend on your personal preference, as well as how you typically use a mouse. Generally a small mouse is classed as 17 cm or less, medium is 17-19.5cm and finally a large mouse is over 19.6cm.

Is 100g heavy for a MMO Mouse?

No, most MMO mice are going to be over 100g. This is because all of the buttons do tend to add more weight to the mouse. Not only that but because of the extended use, they will often need to be made from more durable materials.

Here is a good weight guide

Mouse TypeEstimated Weight
Standard80-100g +
Lightweight80g or less
Ultra Light70g or less

Final Thoughts

So what is the best MMO mouse? The answer is going to depend on your needs and your budget. For high end then the Razer Naga Pro would be my recommendation. If you’re on more of a budget then you might want to go for the Logitech G600.

Although if you want to go for a mid range then you cannot go wrong with the Corsair SCIMITAR RGB ELITE.

No matter which you go for, I’d always recommend getting one that has enough buttons for your requirements. It’s also important that you get one that has decent software behind it. This is going to make binding your abilities to your buttons a lot easier.

Hopefully this article has helped and your new MMO mouse can take your gaming to the next level.
