How long is Final Fantasy 16?

Final Fantasy games are well-known for being pretty lengthy and having massive storylines.

How long is Final Fantasy 16 and how does it compare to previous titles?

I cannot believe it’s been seven years since a new mainstream Final Fantasy game was launched.

This isn’t including Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the last one would have been Final Fantasy 15.

In this article, we’ll go through exactly how long is Final Fantasy 16 is and what extra’s it has to offer for those that want a longer adventure.

Key Takeaways

  • 30-40 hours for a standard playthrough
  • 60-70 hours for 100% Completion
  • 100 hours with New Game+ Modes
  • FF16 has 50 chapters in the main story plus many side quests

Lets face it, your playstyle is going to determine how long Final Fantasy 16 is for you.

If you decide to just play the main storyline, you’ll get to the credits quicker than someone that decides to do all of the side quests.

It’s also going to take you longer if you want to get 100% completion.

Some people might decide to skip all the cutscenes, not sure why you would want to as they are epic.

I’m often slower at playing games as I like to go through every single subquest but also look through all areas of the map to see if I stumble onto any secrets.

How Long Is Final Fantasy 16

The great thing about Final Fantasy 16 is that its very heavy story driven, just like previous Final Fantasy games.

One thing that does set this one apart, is the amount of cutscenes. It is very cutscene heavy to help you understand the story, which is great! This will increase the length of the game, although you can skip them if you wanted to.

By playing through the story it’ll take around 30 hours to finish Final Fantasy 16.

This is quite high compared to other modern games.

Its also worth noting that this is generally the minimum if you were to watch all cutscenes and follow the story. The length of Final Fantasy 16 can be much higher if you take part in other activities.

Length of Final Fantasy 16 With 100% Completion

If you’re enjoying Final Fantasy 16 as much as me and don’t want it to end, you’re in luck. There are a ton of side quests to keep you entertained.

If you were to do the main story, watch all the cutscenes and do all of the side quests then this could take anywhere from 50-60 hours.

What about getting 100% complete? If you’re wanting to fully explore the game and collect all items including the expensive orchestrion rolls, you’ll easily be playing for over 70 hours.

Does Final Fantasy 16 Have New Game+ Mode?

Up for even more of a challenge? A challenge that’ll increase the length of Final Fantasy 16 even more?

Once you’ve completed the game, you might be happy to know that there are three extra modes.

The first is New Game+, which allows you to keep abilities etc but increases the difficulty.

There is also the time attack mode, which is a much harder version of the Chronolith Trails.

Finally there is the Ultimania mode. This allows you to do Arete Stone challenges but at a very challenging level.

Doing all of these modes could easily make the length of Final Fantasy 16 over 100 hours long.

Final Thoughts

Final Fantasy 16, like its predecessors, is a story-rich game that offers an immersive and time-intensive gaming experience.

A standard playthrough with focus on the main storyline takes approximately 30-40 hours, which is substantial compared to most modern games.

These hours could be significantly extended depending on your approach to gameplay.

Exploring every facet of the game, including all side quests and cutscenes, can result in a playtime of around 50-60 hours.

For players seeking a complete experience, aiming for a 100% completion, it can extend to a staggering 70 hours.

This accounts for acquiring all items, engaging with side quests, and fully exploring the game’s expansive world.

For those desiring additional challenges post the main storyline, Final Fantasy 16 offers three extra modes: New Game+, Time Attack mode, and the Ultimania mode.

These add to the replayability and longevity of the game, potentially extending the total gameplay to over 100 hours.

The length of Final Fantasy 16 is heavily influenced by your personal playstyle and how deeply you choose to engage with the game’s content.

Whether it’s speeding through the main storyline or meticulously engaging with all side quests and challenges, there’s ample content to provide an engaging gaming experience.

Despite its high playtime, the intriguing story, elaborate cutscenes, and variety of game modes ensure an exciting adventure for all Final Fantasy fans.
