How To Get Scarletite in Final Fantasy 16

You’ll probably come across Scarletite when looking to craft the Drakeslayer’s belt. Although you’ll need to it for other Drakeslayer’s items and the Excalibur weapon.

I know when I could first craft the belt, I had no idea how to get Scarletite. Its not really explained every well.

Although like with most rare materials, you get them from mobs on the hunt board.

Its actually one of the hardest materials to get.

In this quick guide, i’ll show you how to get Scarletite in Final Fantasy 16.

How to get Scarletite in Final Fantasy 16

How to get Scarletite

What makes Scarletite a little tricky to get is the fact that you need to defeat Notorious Marks, these are found on the Hunting Board. You can also get one from a side quest.

Once you’ve finished the “Gathering Storm” quest in the main story, you’ll unlock the hunting board. Although certain hunts only become available after parts of the main story.

Throughout the game, you’ll find many Notorious Marks finding their way on the Hunting Board, although only 4 of them drop Scarletite.

The location of these hunts can be tough to find. Don’t worry, Ill share the location of each one below.

All of these Notorious Marks are Rank B, they can be a bit of a challenge. As long as your using a good setup and have plenty of potions it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge.

I’ll go into more details on the locations but you’ll find Scarletite from the following marks

  • Dozmare, The Griffin (Rank B, Level 28)
  • Fastitocalon (Rank B, Level 34)
  • The Ten of Clubs (Rank B, Level 35)
  • The Holy Trumpitour (Rank B, Level 36)

One you’ve finished the main quest “Follow the Crystal”, you can also get access to a side quest in Dhalmekian. At the Dalimil Inn, Xaver gives you the side quest “Hot Water”, this gives you a piece of Scarletite.

Scarletite locations in FF16

As mentioned, all of these are hunt locations. Some of them are not the easiest to find. After all the directions you get is pretty basic.

Below, you’ll find detailed instructions of each Notorious Mark that drops Scarletite as a reward.

Dozmare (Griffin) hunt location

Dozmare hunt location

Once you’ve done the “Black Light Burns” quests in the main story, you can a side quest from August in the Hideaway. This side quest is called “Blacksmith’s Blues”.

The hunt will show up on the board, once you’re on this side quest.

The Dozmare is a Griffin monster that can be fuond South of the Caer Norvent River Gate in Sanbreque. When I first tried to find it, I got completely lost. Its certainly not the easiest to find.

I’d recommend you head to Lostwing and then go southeast. Be prepared its a pretty long way, having you chocobo would make it easier.

Once you get closed to the spot, a cutscene will start and the Griffin will attack.

Fight wise, its pretty easy. The Griffin is a B-Rank monster thats level 28.

Fastitocalon “A Hill to Die On” hunt location

Fastitocalon hunt location

A bit of a tougher hunt than the previous one, still a B Rank but this one is a level 34. If you’re setup right then this shouldnt be too much of an issue.

You want to go to the Velkroy Desert in Dhalmekia. Once you’ve teleported to the Velkroy Desert obelisk, head to the Northeastern Corner.

The great thing about this hunt is that you get two scarletites instead of the one, making it well worth doing.

The Ten of Clubs hunt location

The Ten of Clubs hunt location

Once you’ve finished the Fire in the Sky quest in the main story, you’ll be able to get access to this hunt on the hunt board.

Another B-Rank hunt with the Ten of Clubs being level 35.

This hunt again is located in Dhalmekia and you want to head to Vamare. The best thing to do would be to head to the Jaw obelisk, just know its still a decent walk.

You want to get to the Fields of Corava, which is through The Jaw and The Sickle. Once you’re through there, the Ten of Clubs is at the southern ruins.

Holy Trumpitour ” The Man in Black” hunt location

Holy Trumpitour hunt location

The last hunt that drops scarletite is the Holy Trumpitour. This hunt is unlocked once you started the side quest “Rekindled Flame”.

This side quest can be accessed while your doing the Cloak and Dagger main quest.

Get to Lostwing in Sanbreque and you’ll want to go to the chapel and down the ladder. You can also get there by going under the bridge.

Once there you will find a cellar passage. Holy Trumpitour will be at the end of the passage in an open area.

‘Hot Water’ side quest location

One of the easiest ways to get your hands on scarletite is through the “Hot Water” side quest.

Once you’ve strated the main quest Riddle of the Sands, you’ll do follow the crystals quest. After you’ve completed this, Hot Water will unlock.

To accept the question you’ll need to go to Baths of Dhalmekia. Its an easy enough quest, you just need to go to the spas and defeat the bombs.

This will take no more than 5 minutes to complete.

What is Scarletite Used For in FF16?

Just like Electrum, Scarletite is highly sought crafting materials. Its needed to craft drakeslayer pieces such as the drakeslayer bracelet and the belt.

These are high level equipment thats going to give you a nice boost in armor and health.

As mentioned you need to use scarletite, you cannot get this until you start the Blacksmith’s Blues side quests and get the first piece.

Scarletite is a rare crafting material that is needed to create Excalibur.

This is one of the most powerful weapons in the game, not only will it give a nice amount of attack, it’s great staggering your enemies.

You can start crafting this by completing Blacksmith’s Blues II.

Final Thoughts

There you have it, How to get Scarletite in Final Fantasy 16. Even though its one of the rarest material in final fantasy, its fairly easy to get. As long as you’ve progressed enough into the game to unlock the hunt board and the different notorious marks.

The individual marks themselves are not a big challenge, the time consuming thing is going to be finding them.

Hopefully this guide has helped make that a lot easier.
