It’s very easy to do and is one of the reasons why Fortnite is still so popular today.

You can create yourself a unique character thanks to all the different skins available.

There’s hundreds and hundreds available. 

But, how do you change your character in Fortnite? And can you change the gender? 

In order for you to change your Fortnite character, you need to own that skin.

Skins are usually purchased from the store using VBucks or from the BattlePass using real money. 

Once you’ve claimed the skin you go to your locker and select the skin you want to use from those that are available to you. Now there is no way to change your character’s gender, this is tied into the skin itself. So if you want the character to be a female then you need to use the female version of that skin. It’s the same if you want to play as a man, you simply equip the male version of the skin. 

If you are new to Fortnite then changing characters can be confusing.

Even more so if the skin has different variations.

Let’s face it, you don’t want to be running the default skin all the time, when everyone else is showing off their cool looks.

How to Change Characters in Fortnite?

Now the first thing you need to do is have some character skins. (It’s going to be hard changing characters without any to change into..)

There are three ways in which you can get skins.

The first is by purchasing them from the store using VBucks.

The second way is by having the Battle Pass and unlocking them.

Finally the Third way is by having someone “gift” a skin to you. 

Once you have at least one other skin you can change characters in Fortnite. 

1. When in the lobby or Fortnite home screen. Click across to the “locker” tab.
   
2. Click the “outfit” icon. This will be a shirt on a hanger if you’re using the default skin. If you already have one equipped then it will show a smaller version of that skin.
   
3. Now you should see all of the different skins you have available. Pick the one you want and click “Equip”. That’s it, you’ve now changed your Fortnite character. 

How to Change Character in Fortnite Save The World?

Fortnite Save the World is a little different to the Battle Royale.

Its a Co Op survival game that requires you to build defences and stop the onslaught of enemies. 

In this mode of gameplay, you can select between four different types of characters;

• Ninja
• Outlander
• Constructor
• Soldier

If you haven’t played before then you will only have the Soldier character.

This is just until you complete the tutorial and then you can start unlocking other characters. 

You can then unlock further characters by finding loot llamas, however it might require some luck. 

How to Change Fortnite Character Gender?

It is not possible to change your Fortnite character’s gender, other than having that specific skin as the female version.

There are some skins that are only available as male or only available as female. 

Although many character skins do have a male and a female version.

You simply have to buy the skin for the character gender that you wish to be. 

Are There Other Ways To Customize Our Characters In Fortnite?

It does depend on what kind of customization you’re looking to do.

When you’re applying a skin to your Fortnite character, you’re basically making it the character of that specific skin. 

Changing skin is basically the same as selecting which character you want to play as.

There are hundreds and hundreds of skins available, so you can make your character unique if you have a super rare skin. 

However there is no customization in terms of being able to change the way that character looks such as hair color, skin color or changing the color of their clothing. 

What you can however do is change other elements such as what backbling they have equipped or what glider your character uses. 

There are some skins that have a few more customization options on them, for example you can unlock additional arms, legs or even heads.

This is getting us closer to having more customization. 

Whether or not Epic Games will go deeper into this and allow us to customize our Fortnite characters even more, we’ll have to wait and see.

How to Change Character Styles in Fortnite?

Some characters do have multiple styles.

Different styles of a character are often unlocked through the Battle Pass.

Although many skins from the store do also contain different styles. 

You can see if a skin has different styles as it’ll have a “+” on it. 

To see what styles are available, select the character you want and then click “Edit Style”.

Go through the styles available and then click “Equip” on the one that you like.

With new skins coming out in the shop on a daily basis and Fortnite doing collabs with well-known brands.

You can find some excellent skins.

There will always be some skins that are more popular than others, but if you want to look different to everyone else it’s more than possible. 

You just need to wait for one of the rare skins to hit the item store or go for some of the lesser known/not as popular skins.
